Medicare, in practice
Specific questions with specific answers, and what the offices in this directory actually see. The guides cover the big questions; this is for the narrower ones, and for what happens when you walk in. Every post names the person at Benefits Life who reviewed it.

Getting it done
Narrow questions with specific answers, the kind that do not fit a general guide.
- Can I see a Medicare agent the same day I walk in?
Yes. You sign a short form called a Scope of Appointment when you arrive, and the conversation can start immediately. Medicare removed the old 48-hour waiting period on October 1, 2026, so no office should be sending you home to come back in two days.
- What a Medicare office cannot help you with
An agent can compare plans, enroll you and serve you afterwards, free. They cannot change your Part B premium, fix a Social Security problem, appeal a claim for you, decide Medicaid eligibility, or service a policy a different agent sold you. Here is who to call for each.
