Upcoming events

No events are scheduled right now. Offices add seminars most often in September and October, ahead of Annual Enrollment, and again in the spring. Check back, or sit down with a licensed agent any time at an office near you.

What to expect at a Medicare seminar

A good seminar explains how Medicare fits together in plain language: what Parts A and B cover, how Medicare Advantage differs from a Medigap supplement, how Part D drug coverage works, and the enrollment windows that apply to you. Expect 45 to 90 minutes, a handout, and time for questions. Bring your questions and, if you have it, your current plan's Annual Notice of Change.

Educational event

General Medicare information. No plan-specific details and no enrollment.

Sales event

Plan-specific information from a licensed agent. You may enroll if you choose to.

Community event

A health fair or senior expo where the office has an information table.

The labels follow the federal Medicare Communications and Marketing Guidelines. Agents may not collect enrollment forms or Scope of Appointment forms at an educational event; they may at a sales event, and you are never required to enroll.

Common questions

What happens at a Medicare seminar?

A licensed agent or counselor walks through how Medicare works: Parts A and B, Medicare Advantage, Medigap, Part D, and when you can enroll. Most run 45 to 90 minutes with time for questions. At an educational event nothing is sold; at a sales event the agent also presents specific plans and you may enroll if you choose to.

What is the difference between an educational event and a sales event?

Federal Medicare marketing rules separate them. An educational event covers Medicare in general: no plan names, premiums or benefits, and no enrollment. A sales (marketing) event is where an agent presents specific plans and can enroll you. Each listing here says which kind it is, and a sales event must be advertised as one.

Do I have to give my name or phone number to attend?

No. At an educational event no one may require your contact information, and any sign-in sheet has to be clearly optional. At a sales event you can take the materials home and decide later. You never have to enroll on the spot.

Is there food at Medicare seminars?

Light refreshments are common. Federal rules prohibit meals at sales events, so a seminar that advertises a full meal with a plan presentation is a red flag.

Does it cost anything to attend?

No. Every event listed here is free. Agents are paid by the insurance company if you later enroll, and your premium is the same whether or not you use an agent.

How do I list my office’s seminar here?

Listed offices can add educational, sales and community events to their page and to this calendar. See the For agents page for how to get your office listed.
