Medicare in Oklahoma

Oklahoma runs its free Medicare help through the Insurance Department itself, and the state has a Medigap rule worth knowing: if you already hold a Medicare Supplement policy, you get 60 days from your birthday each year to move to a policy with the same or fewer benefits without health questions. The offices listed here are places you can walk into or book a visit; the state programs below are free and do not sell plans.

The Oklahoma birthday rule

If you already have a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policy, Oklahoma gives you a 60-day open enrollment period beginning on your birthday each year. In it you can move to a policy with the same or lesser benefits, from your own company or another one, and the insurer must waive medical underwriting and preexisting-condition exclusions. You have to be enrolled in a Medigap policy already, with no gap in coverage longer than 90 days since you first enrolled. The rule does not cover Medicare Advantage, standalone Part D or employer group plans.
